March 6th Tournament: Meet Jay “KRANTZ” Rosenkrantz

One of the founders of DeucesCracked.com and stars of 2 Months 2 Million that will be in attendance March 6th at the Franklin Conference Center is Jay Rosenkrantz.

Here is his bio from his coaching page on DeucesCracked.com

Jay was born with poker in his bloodstream. He's been playing since he was 12, starting in the middle school cafeteria and graduating to living rooms, basements and the back of a comic book shop. Rounders is one of his favorite movies and major influences. When he was 16 he started sneaking into casinos in Atlantic City and grinding 5/10 Limit Holdem. He juggled jobs to fund the hobby – he was at times a waiter, mouse-pad cutter, tent cleaner, toy maker, freelance writer, legal assistant, and gas pumper. Alas, college inevitably came and he put away his cards to study screenwriting at Boston University.

At some point during his adventures at BU, Jay found online poker and everything changed. He reconnected with Chuck Danielsson, a childhood friend and fellow aspiring Mikey McDermott. Chuck introduced Jay to twoplustwo.com, the place where he learned to kill No Limit Holdem' along with many of the games' best and brightest players today.

When he graduated in 2006, in lieu of diving straight into a writing career, he moved to NYC with Chuck and immersed himself in poker culture. He started 3-bet.net, a major player in modern poker coaching. 3-bet was the foundation for what is now DeucesCracked.

In 2007, Jay moved in with Emil "whitelime" Patel, who was semi-retired from poker and concentrating on finishing his last year of school at NYU. Jay's passion for poker stirred a sleeping beast in Emil and within a few weeks, the pair had moved to Las Vegas for the 2007 WSOP with Ariel "FoxwoodsFiend" Schneller and Brian "flawless_victory" Roberts. That summer, "Team Israel," as the guys were being called, destroyed all challengers in No Limit Holdem, including the likes of Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, David Benyamine and Tom Dwan. Next summer, newly minted 21-year old and friend Dani Stern joined the guys in Vegas, rounding out the team. Along the way, Jay became a force in the biggest NL games online and was the biggest winner in NL cash games for 2007-2008.

At the same time, Jay found himself enamored with the incredible stories and fairy tales that came out of the poker boom. He pursued several passion projects that led to the creation of From Busto to Robusto, an ongoing documentary project about the online poker boom, and 2 Months 2 Million, the first original reality series about the lives of poker players, on which Jay is a creator, producer and star.

Jay is well known as being one of the best teachers in poker. He was mentored by Tommy Angelo, the premiere mental game coach in poker and in turn has mentored scores of students to tremendous success in No Limit Holdem and poker.

You can read Jay's thoughts on whatever enters his (at times very strange) head at his blog, dangerlion.com.
