Sponsorship FAQs
Here are some frequently asked questions concerning FREE Poker Tournament promotions at your Establishment:
Q: Can I have FREE poker tournaments in my establishment?
A: PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS IS NOT GAMBLING! There is NO entry fee of ANY KIND. The FREE poker tournaments promotions are NOT related to CHARITABLE GAMING, nor will there be a conflict. In fact, if you have a charitable gaming operator in your establishment, they will appreciate the residual business they will receive as a result of the people coming to your venue. There can be NO cover charge or FEE to play.
Q: What kind of crowd will this attract?
A: Expect to see a lot of new customers! Mostly male, with an average age 36.
Q: I don’t know much about poker, should I pass on this?
A: Poker can be a little intimidating for people who don’t play. Don’t let it be! The game is quite simple and can be taught to anyone very quickly. It does help if you have some basic understanding of how Texas Hold’em Tournaments are played, and we will provide basic training to all new clients. Don’t pass on this great opportunity to bring regular customers in to your bar.
Q: How do I get my league up and going?
A: Post fliers and start taking registrations! Announce the day of the week your league will run. You may wait to announce the start date until you have met your goal for registrations. We will immediately post your location on the Vermont Poker League locations list which will result in responses. The fliers and word-of-mouth will go a long way, but additional advertisement (radio / print) may be necessary to take this promotion to the next level.
Q: How long will the poker tournaments last?
This will depend somewhat on the size of your league. However, expect your players to spend an average of 3 1/2 hours in the venue, eating and drinking. Since players are sitting in one spot for the event they will be easy to serve. Many players and spectators will come early.
Q: How can I maximize revenues?
A: Make sure to wait on your customers! Good service pays. For those who bust out of the tournament early, offer a FREE side tournament for a door prize, and you’ll keep your customers much longer. Free Poker is great entertainment!
Q: How often can we play?
A: The league calls for 10 events, to be completed by the end of season deadline (to be announced – likely May or June). We highly suggest a weekly format. You may wish to pick a night that will not conflict with other activities.
Q: What will I receive from Vermont Poker League?
A: All paperwork required to run tournaments, including Rules and Score Sheet. The services of an experienced “Host
